Editing Techniques Used: Lightroom Tips
Tutorials Used: 10 Quick and Easy Lightroom Tricks

What I Learned: Lightroom is even more amazing than I knew it was! The tutorial I used above was filled with a bunch of tricks with features I hadn't used in Lightroom before. My favorites were stacking brushes and the luminance sliders. It opened my eyes to the potential that exists in the program. I can't wait to learn more uses for it as the year continues. I also discovered this month the power of RAW I was not taping into. I have shot RAW for a long time, but when I open them in Lightroom I usually leave the default settings the program puts on the photo. This month I started "zeroing" out the photos and it has allowed me so much more flexibility with my photos. I have been able to save some that I thought were not savable. It has really helped me in my present day editing as well.

I had the most amazing photography adventure this weekend! It involved hot air balloons, a tulip field, a 2am departure time and a 3 1/2 hour drive. Come back on Thursday to hear all about it! For now, here is a shot of one of the aforementioned balloons.

What have you been shooting lately?

Project 52 - Week 17/52

We have been having some amazing weather in the Pacific Northwest and because it is the Pacific Northwest we appreciate it all the more! I spent Sunday over in Eastern Washington soaking up the sun and enduring the wind. On Monday I had a doctors appointment and afterward went to Penrose Point State Park and had fun finding some flowers to shoot in the dramatic light. I continually feel blessed to get to live where I do and experience the places I get to see. What places inspire you?

Reverse 365: Ferris Wheel - Day 115/365 4.25.13

Going to the Puyallup Fair each year is a must here in Western Washington, people take the day off of work and kids miss a day of school. It is a wonderful yearly experience. When I look back at the photos it is very evident how far I have come. I look forward to this September!

Reverse 365: Open - Day 112/365 4.22.13

If I have to pick one, I must say that I prefer the Oregon Coast. There is something about the fact that the beaches are all public and maybe the fact that I was born in the state that has me going to the Oregon Coast whenever I can. With that being said, the Washington Coast is not a bad place to be either!

This weekend my mom, dog niece and I headed over the mountains in search of some Vitamin D. We found it and had a great time exploring! We also found some very blustery conditions that made for some difficult shooting moments. I was able to capture some shots I am proud of and I will be sharing those on Thursday. For today, I took a photo of this flower growing in my front yard when I got home. I have been meaning to shoot this tiny blossom for some time now, but have been putting it off. When I arrived home I noticed that the bottom part of the flower was starting to turn brown so I decided it was now or never. It was right before sunset and with the flower growing at the base of a tree it was very shaded. It posed an interesting and yet challenging lighting situation, but I like the detail and color I was able to capture. I would love to know what you think, CC is always welcome!

What about you, what have you been meaning to shoot lately? Have you done it or is still waiting on your "list"?
