Tones on Tuesday #53 11.6.12

Be sure to check out my tips and tricks for Night/Low Light Photography!

I cannot believe that November is here and October is gone. Fall has begun to fade here, but the photos from last week tell a beautiful story of the season. I had to pick 4 instead of 3 this week, I hope you don't mind!

Mona at Mona's Picturesque
Fall is ending and this is a beautiful representation of that! I love the light and color in this photo. Thank you for sharing with us Mona!

The depth of field and framing in this photo is lovely. The colors of the leaves are beautiful as well. Thank you for linking up Kathy!

This was taken before Sandy hit the East Coast, luckily Meg had little damage but I know that is not the case for many people. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone still recovering. As for this picture, the colors are stunning! A beautiful capture of the calm before the storm. Thank you Meg!

Mock-Turtle at Jack's Paper Moon
Rounding out the fall theme this week is this photo of Jack. I love the light, the muted tones and the expression captured. Thank you for sharing Mock-Turtle!

Mona, Kathy, Meg and Mock-Turtle please go HERE to grab your showcase button.

Guess what I did this weekend? I bought a new camera, well new to me! I have had my Rebel T1i for almost 3 years. It has been a wonderful starter camera and I have loved every minute of  using it and learning with it. It is time, though, for a camera that has capabilities that will allow my photography to continue to grow. I was very lucky to meet someone at both of the Clickin Walks I attended who was willing to let me test out the camera she was selling before buying. During the "test shoot" I used my macro lens to take a photo of some water droplets on a picnic table at a local park. I can't wait to take more pictures, explore my camera and learn more!

Settings: ISO 1000, 100mm, ss1/6400, f/2.8

Tones on Tuesday #9 11.15.11

I am very behind in my posting this week. I am going to try and do some catch up soon, but I wanted to be sure to get Tones on Tuesday up for those who want to link up. I remain inspired and awed by your photos and am so happy to get the opportunity to see and learn from you. Here are my 3 showcases this week, followed by my own picture and the link up. I can't wait to see your alterations :o)!

Nadege at Moments in Time
I really like what the black and white does for the mood of this photo. Nadege titled this post "Come, Sit, Relax." That is exactly what this photo makes me want to do :o). Thank you for linking up Nadege!

Gillian from Building Bumps
I love the complete innocent of this moment captured. The soft tones and the natural frame of the crib are just lovely. Thank you for linking up Gillian.

Jeanne from Butterfly Tales
Each week Jeanne manages to produce a work of art with the way she edits the tones in her photo. I love the vintage feel of this barn, you can just imagine that it has been standing for years and will be for years to come. Thank you for sharing Jeanne!

Be sure to grab your this button if you were showcased! (button for linking up can be found after the guidelines)

My photo for this week is a simple black and white conversion of a foggy scene I took on a visit to Tolt McDonald Park in the rain with my brother's girlfriend who has become a good friend of mine and a great photography buddy. I took this photo with my telephoto and my goal was to capture the fog while staying under an awning in order to prevent my camera from getting soaked. For the black and white I followed a simple video tutorial that Courtney from Click it Up a Notch created for use with Lightroom. Easy to follow, yet allows for me to put my own stamp on each photo.

Good to Wow SOOC: Fallen Leaves 10.22.11

The prompt for the Good to Wow Challenge this week was Memories. I really had no idea what I was going to shoot or what the concept for my shot would be. All I knew, my intention, was to not force it. I just wanted it to happen naturally during my day of photographing. On Sunday I spent the day driving around, catching up and taking pictures with my best friend. Due to all the picture taking I have been experiencing fall in a new way this year. While my friend and I were out and about we commented on how many of our kids (we are both kindergarten teachers) have not experienced raking leaves into a pile and jumping in them. This brought back memories of when my dad used to make a big pile of leaves and I would jump in them and then spend hours making him rake again so I could jump over and over. I did not have a rake with me :o), but these shots reminded me of the joy that fall brings. Even though there was no big pile I did spend a few moments shuffling my feet through the leaves and fondly remembering my childhood.

Here are my SOOC shots, the leaves are just begging to be enjoyed whether off the tree or on it...

Shades of Autumn: Orange 10.22.11

Today I spent the day admiring the fall colors. I was able to drive myself around and spend some time with my best friend as I finally got a new car. The colors were beautiful and the range of shades had me captivated. My goal was to of course capture the Shades of Autumn color of orange, but also to communicate the essence of fall. The changing colors and changing of the landscape are what makes fall such a breathtaking season. The variety of oranges that I had the privilege to see was astonishing. It was a great day of shooting!
