This weekend I was very excited to see that the weather was going to be sunny. However, as is the case often with weather where I live, the sun was isolated to one spot. I was not to fear, though, because there is always another place within driving distance where the weather will be different. In this case, it took driving across the mountains and through some fog to get there. I will be sharing those "sunny" photos later this week. For today, I chose a foggy field I just had to pull over to take a picture of, it was calling to me. I love how the fog seems to be dancing across the field. I did an HDR process in Photoshop. I am still getting the hang of HDR as it is the focus for my Reverse 365 this month. I continue to struggle with how much is too much. What do you think?

Reverse 365: Words - Day 42/365 2.11.13

I mentioned on my Project 52 that for my Photoshop focus this month I am trying out HDR effects. I am still getting the hang of too much vs. not enough. This one might be a tad too much, I can't decide! HDR Tutorial Used

Project 52 - Week 6/52

Do you ever have those times when you are ready, willing and able to shoot and you just can't get the shots you want? For me, one of 2 things gets in the way. Either the weather is not cooperating which in turn effects the light or I just can't get to the view I want. This weekend, the 2nd issue caused me problems. From the highway there was a stunning view of Mount Stuart and the Stuart Range, but on all of the exits and side roads it just wasn't the same. (see the 2nd picture) This left me a bit discouraged and with very few inspiring photos. So I decided to take a page from my Reverse 365 project and focus on the editing. This month for my project I am working on the gradient tool in Lightroom and an HDR Tutorial I found for Photoshop. I love HDR photos, but haven't got the hang of the real thing (in camera). So I decided to give it a try in Photoshop. I would love some feedback as I can't decide if I feel it is too much or not enough. What do you think?

Reverse 365: Spirit of Youth - 36/365 2.5.13

In order to have a sort of system for this project, I decided to go in chronological order with the photos I chose. My plan is to go through each "shoot" and edit until I feel I should move on. some shoots are more inspiring than others. When I am done, I plan to go back through and see what I missed.

With this in mind, I have come to the month of April and the flowers of Spring. I am not ready for Spring yet because I still would like a little bit of snow this Winter, but the flowers sure are pretty to look at!

Tones on Tuesday #64 2.5.13

Based on the photos that caught my eye from last week, I would say I am wishing for snow and a little envious of the winter weather some are experiencing :o). I am glad I get to experience a little bit of the winter frost and snow through your photos. Thank you for sharing!

Sarah at Hood Photography
Stunning light and I love the detail here! Such a wondering mixture of fall and winter in one photo. Thank you for sharing Sarah!

Pieni Lintu
Another example of gorgeous light! I love the still, soft feeling captured here as that is what a snow covered world feels like to me. Thank you for linking up!

Such a different take on a snow scene than the one above, but I love that moody, mysterious feel as well. Thank you for sharing your lovely shot Rebecca!

I headed across the mountains this weekend in hopes of finding sunnier skies to photograph. I found some, but the further east I went the less sun I encountered. The state of Washington amazes me with the way weather can be so different from mile to mile. I left rain on the west side, found sun right over the mountains and then encountered intense fog a little further on. I decided to visit one of my favorite parks from when I went to college in Ellensburg, WA. I was drawn to the many different plants for some macro practice. I am working hard to get the hang of macro, but still struggle with the settings and the focus. They say practice makes perfect and I do enjoy the practice so it is all worth it :o).

Reverse 365: Creative Spirit - Day 32/365 2.1.13

New month, new editing focus for the Reverse 365. I am working on becoming familiar with the gradient tool in Lightroom. I am still searching for something to work on in Photoshop. With this photo I was trying out the Zone System when shooting, which made the editing fairly simple. It only needed a quick pass with the gradient tool on the sky and mountains.
