Last week I mentioned how I was feeling less than inspired by my attempts to capture a particular view. So this week I decided to just take a drive and see where it led me. I headed over Stevens Pass and was rewarded with a beautiful sky and light on the other side of the mountains. I pulled out my phone and as I often do I looked for parks near my location. I found Lake Wenatchee Park, Googled photos and decided it was a place I wanted to see. Oh my word, was it worth it! The sky was a gorgeous blue, it was in the upper 40s and there was snow on the ground and covering the distant mountains. I took a picture with my phone and posted it on Facebook with the Ansel Adams quote "Sometimes I do get to places just when God's ready to have somebody click the shutter." It could not have been more true, it was picture perfect!
It was also a perfect time to use the
Zone System. I metered off the sky and set my exposure to 1 stop up from perfectly exposed. It worked beautifully as I only had to do minor editing. The photos below are so close to what I saw that I takes me right back to this beautiful day. I couldn't decide which photo I like best so you get a few to take a look at. Also, the quote below sums up my feelings about nature to a T. I feel such a great connection to the universe, God and myself when I am outside. I am lucky to get to photograph the things I do!

“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quite alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As longs as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.” - Anne Frank
