Project 52 - Week 6/52

Do you ever have those times when you are ready, willing and able to shoot and you just can't get the shots you want? For me, one of 2 things gets in the way. Either the weather is not cooperating which in turn effects the light or I just can't get to the view I want. This weekend, the 2nd issue caused me problems. From the highway there was a stunning view of Mount Stuart and the Stuart Range, but on all of the exits and side roads it just wasn't the same. (see the 2nd picture) This left me a bit discouraged and with very few inspiring photos. So I decided to take a page from my Reverse 365 project and focus on the editing. This month for my project I am working on the gradient tool in Lightroom and an HDR Tutorial I found for Photoshop. I love HDR photos, but haven't got the hang of the real thing (in camera). So I decided to give it a try in Photoshop. I would love some feedback as I can't decide if I feel it is too much or not enough. What do you think?

This weekend I had report cards to write so I had to go out on a rainy day to photograph. It took quite a while (and some driving) to find something that inspired me. Near a marina at the Port of Tacoma I found this abandoned house and was drawn to the color, texture and unexpected moments inside and out. It is a sort of a departure for me to photograph something that is not "nature-made" but there is something natural to the way that a house falls apart when abandoned. I have been playing with collages in Lightroom in order to make one for my first completed month of my Project Reverse 365 so I decided to make one here too. I feel like it works well.
